nice view but needs better upkeep
I enjoyed the unique historical decor of my room, which added character to my stay. The English breakfast was freshly cooked to order, which made for a delightful start to my day.
The hotel could benefit from improved maintenance in certain areas.

Charming, Charming, Charming
I had the most delightful stay in a Standard Double Room with a View that felt like a cozy embrace with its charming decor and a fabulous view overlooking the serene river. Breakfast was a feast, with everything cooked to perfection and served piping hot, kicking off my day the right way. The attentive staff made me feel right at home, going above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect.

Food was great, but service was slow both nights during dinner.

Had a blast with friends! Explored nearby hiking trails and checked out the local pubs. The staff were super friendly, and the room was comfortable. Just a heads-up, the Wi-Fi needs improvement, but overall, a great place to unwind after our adventures.
There was a long wait at the bar, which was frustrating, especially with so few people around.

Charming stay with lovely surroundings
I had a lovely stay with a comfortable and spacious standard double room, complemented by friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast was excellent, offering a nice variety, and the outdoor dining option in the beautiful garden was a real highlight. My only concern was some traffic noise that could interrupt the tranquility of the stay.

I had a lovely stay at The Bear. The location is perfect, right near the town, making it easy to explore. My standard double room was spacious, equipped with a comfy firm bed. The staff were friendly and attentive, genuinely adding to my enjoyment. the bathroom maintenance needs attention. I found peeling paint and the shower head sprayed water unpredictably. There was a leaky valve on the toilet, and a lightbulb in the room was blown. Breakfast service was slow and could be improved as well. Staff seemed overwhelmed, and I had to ask for refills several times. the experience was pleasant but could benefit from better upkeep and more efficient service.

Clean and warm rooms provided a comfortable stay, complemented by a delicious and well-prepared evening meal. The breakfast selection was good, featuring plenty of hot and vegetarian options. Friendly and attentive staff made the experience enjoyable, especially with their help for secure bike storage. Though the location was convenient, noise from nearby areas slightly disrupted sleep.

The bed had quirky extended legs to accommodate the room's uneven floor, which added charm. Immaculately clean with nice touches like tea/coffee facilities, which made settling in easy.
Room size felt cramped for two, likely better for a solo stay. Hot water took forever to warm up in the shower, and the pressure was so low it felt more like a drizzle. Breakfast options missed the mark—cold hash browns and burnt toast were disappointing, especially for the price. Cobwebs and a broken toilet roll holder didn’t help the overall impression either.

Cozy stay with a twist!
This place was pretty cool! The room was warm and comfy, and we had everything we needed. Had some good grub too. great options at the bar area, but the service was sloooow. Seriously, we waited ages for our meals, and that kind of stunk! nice spot just off the M4.
